Happy New Betta
Well, I caved. I was going to put something new in the 5 1/2 gallon, maybe expand the CPD school. (in addition to losing Pyr, I now suspect the cat was what was slowly causing my tiny school to shrink.) But, between family wishes for a friendly fish, and the betta display when I went for food for everyone else, I now have a new addition. Also, proof that he is happy: This morning I woke up to a giant bubble nest covering a crypt leaf.
I didn't quite get what I wanted, since I wanted a betta with closer to wild type length fins( I hated watching Pyr struggle against even the gentlest currents) But the new one has far less finnage than Pyr, and seems to have few problems swimming, although the danios can lap the tank twice while he's still making his first circuit.

Wow, I love those colours! A very nice fish! I currently have fry of a halfmoon plakat; in about 3 months they should be ready to change homes in case you are interested in a short finned betta.

Very striking looking fish. I love those colours too. Wish someone would give me a tank and beautiful fish for free. Awesome!
