Calico Goldfish?
Hi everyone, as most know I have a 75 g with one black moore and 2 fan tails...one of the fan tails is sort of a calico color with telescope eyes...the other is white in color and alot more fancy the the 1st named
anyway there is an ad on kijiji for a free calico goldfish...I have looked at images but it says there are different types
would this goldfish be compatible with my 3 babies?

Re: Calico Goldfish?
Am i correct in assuming that this fish is a single tailed goldfish? How big is it?

Re: Calico Goldfish?
We have a fan tailed calico.... I understand that calico refers to the colour pattern.
This is what wiki says: 'Calico or nacreous goldfish are goldfish of any breed that sport a mixture of metallic and transparent scales that produces a pearly appearance.[1][2] The name "calico goldfish" is often associated, and sometimes confused, with the shubunkin goldfish.
Calico goldfish have patches of red, yellow, grey and black along with dark speckles on a blue background. This nacreous coloration of usually extends over the fins'
Edit: Oh no, I just became a pleco poster....

In my little world, the term Calico Goldfish would include Shubunkins and any other goldfish that has a calico coloration. That could be fantails, oranda's, telescopes, etc.
It's sort of a catch all term.

Re: Calico Goldfish?
I have found with goldfish that compatibility has to do with size on the one hand and sex of the fish on the other. The latter is difficult to judge at first sight. If the size difference with the other ones isn't too big, I would go for it, especially since you already have 3. Above 3 it gets easier in terms of pairing up of 2 fish and bullying the remaining.

Sounds like a plan to me,
What's the worse can happen, they don't get along and you have to ship him over to me.

I'm going to get him
he comes with a 10 gallon tank
the man says he has had him for 5 months and he is healthy
wonder if I should place him rt in with Rose, Micah and Oscar or keep him seperate for a time?

Re: Calico Goldfish?
It is never bad to quarantine him for 2 weeks and see if any issues arise. Then you place him in the other tank.

I will definitely post photos of him!
and yes his name will be STEVE!!!!!!
We are so excited and can't wait to meet him!
Looks like it won't be until the 1st of the week as we have some bad whether coming this wknd
unless of course I can manage to get there tomorrow although the possibility of that happening is very slim as our daughter's preschool Christmas concert is tomorrow......

No problem we appreciate the effort to keep things running smoothly, besides I love typing so much I don't mind doing it twice. The problem is remembering what I just typed.
What are we talking about again?
