Given Goldfish
Hello,
I have a question. I got given 3 comet goldfish from my dad, I only have a 36 Gallon tank with a Pelco and some catfish in it. [They ate 2 of my Catfish, put the other 2 in my other tank with mollies]
Would the goldfish be okay to live in a 36 Gallon or should I try and Rehome them to someone with a pond or a bigger tank?

Hi,
I have the same number of fish, but in a 67 gallon tank. My gold fish are medium size (3") with my spotted pleco. How long are you goldfish?
I don't see any reason why you cant do what you suggest.
Your catfish must be small, if they were eaten. to bad, so sad, but life goes on.

This is an old post and I’m sure the original poster is long gone, but for the sake of a discussion. Personally I am not fond of Pleco’s, but that’s just me. Yes I know that can help keep the green slim off the inside of your tank, but that has to go somewhere, and it doesn’t leave your tank. They add a tremendous bio load to your tank that is not worth it to me. Especially when you have dirty fish like Goldfish in the tank to start with.
I have not looked at Goldfish in a pet store recently, so I’m not sure what they classify as a medium fish, but 3” is a small goldfish in my book. They can get quit large and it’s good to have an exit plan for when they outgrow your tank. Personally I have rehomed all of my goldfish and have moved on to keeping much smaller fish. Actually that’s a complete lie, except for the rehome part. I have given away all my goldfish to friends with ponds that don’t keep Koi.
I do like Goldfish just the same; post a few pictures of your fish if you get a chance.

I knew and always hoped that someday Steve would come over from the darkside and keep guppies and snails.

I'm just messing with you, I would't be able to feed live fish to the turtles. She eats a lot of the plants in her end of the pond. She does eat some pellets, but loves lettuce, blueberries and grapes.

Too late, I already made the call. Greta Thunberg is heading to Newfoundland. That's quite the carbon footprint you're making.
