Tank clearity question
To start, not sure if my tank is glass or acrylic.
But the issue I am having is a bit odd. When looking inside the tank from either end, it looks as if the tank is green and cloudy. But looking in from the front, it's clear as day.
I tried scrubbing the sides with an algae scrubber with no change.

Re: Tank clearity question
Is this a recent developoment?
New tank?
New filter?
More lighting added?
If it only appears when looking lengthwise it may be you have more water to look through and so the color is more noticeable. Do water changes make a difference?
If its acrylic it could be polarized and looking lengthwise gives you a different angle?

Re: Tank clearity question
If the tank is rectangular, if you look from either side, you are technically looking through more water than if you were looking at it straight on. It could give the impression of the different shades of water. Just a guess though.
Re: Tank clearity question
Not a new tank.
Same filter as always.
Water changes make no difference.
No lighting other than ambient.
It's been this way for a very long time.

Re: Tank clearity question
Is this the Koi tank? I saw something similar with overcrowded goldfish - the front to back depth was clear, but you look through a lot more water from the end, and you see why they are pond fish.

Re: Tank clearity question
The koi tank is the new to us tank and it doesn't do it. The "shark" tank is the one that does.

Re: Tank clearity question
Big fish, big waste. It will be in the water column in a tank that isn't drilled and on a central system.
