Went to the lfs this weekend. Great surprise!
So I was at my lfs this weekend, to spend the 50$ gift card my dad got me.
I decided to purchase a dozen of tiger shrimp since they were available..
To my surprise, I noticed a lone pygmy cory, who dashed to the top of the aquarium to get some air (typical behaviour).
That poor little guy was lost and the last time they had pygmy cory was about 3 months ago. The guy said he didn't know how he got in this tank.
My girlfriend immediately asked me to bring him home and add him to my school, which of course I did.
I got him for 1.89$ which is pretty cheap for a pigmy cory in that store.
Then, when I arrived at the cashier, he annonced me that I was now elligible for lifetime 10% discount!!! Wow, what a surprise!! So in total, it cost me a whoping 51.25, which I paid with the gift card, and 1.25$.
The pygmy cory was observed schooling with his other mates yesterday night.
To add to the super weekend I had, I got to feed grindal worms to everyone for the first time sunday. I had never seen my neon tetras eat like that, it's very funny, they look WILD!
Upon feeding, I immediately noticed that everyone, and especially the rummynose, had A LOT more coloring.
Oh, and I also gotten around to do my own Root Tabs

Very cool. Sounds like a great trip to the LFS! Looking forward to seeing some photos of your new shrimp.

Congrats on your latest acquisitions! I'm glad that you took home the pygmy cory. I'm sure that one is much happier to be with others of its kind.

Sounds all great! What else did you get for your gift card? Will you post us how you made your own root tabs? I am very interested.

Well, for the 50$ I got 12 Tiger shrimp, one pygmy corydora and a Banana Plant.
The tiger shrimp are quite expensive as they are still a bit rare in North America.
I hope to breed them and distribute them around
And yes, I will be letting you know how I made my root tabs, and will also be posting about efficiency of them

I was at the local fish store this weekend and I overheard some people chatting with the clerk...and I do believe they were talking about a cory and not being sure how he got in a tank o.O
I think we crossed paths hahahahaah
Would love to hear how the tiger shrimp work out for you, I've heard they are a bit more sensitive to water parameters than the cherries

Oh wow! Well, it is most certainly me that you have seen, I am very tall and was there with my girlfriend and her mother.
As for the shrimp, they are a bit more sensitive indeed but not THAT sensitive.
I know that my tank is in the perfect range for them and my water has been (knock on wood) stelar for the past 6 months. I actually have to dose nitrates to my tank because of the massive amount of plants I have in.
I was happy to see they had this extra cory as I am looking to up my numbers for that school I already have. Hopefully I manage to find some more "surprise" cories!

Sounds about right! Hi in retrospect.
I didn't end up getting anything, was going for plants but the ones I was considering didn't look in that great shape.
I saw cory habrosus at the other fish store - they;re very cute but I'm worried about having too many bottom feeders if I were to get a school

3 Kuhli loaches, a bulldog pleco and cherry shrimp.
I might eventually try a small school of cories but I hear they like to be in larger groups. But first I want to give the shrimp a chance to build up their numbers.
