building my new tank

I used to have a 70 gallon tank and I am wanting to return to aquarianism so I am building an in the wall tank for my living room.
wanting a little feedback from anyone. I am making it 70 inches long and wanting 18 inches tall of water. Should I make the tank 12 or 18 inches deep (meaning width)? what are your thoughts of it being 12 verses 18 inches? Also, should I make the tank 24 inches tall to accommodate the 18 inches deep of water? I think 10mm glass sides and 12mm glass bottom would work just fine. Thoughts?

Not sure about the glass thickness sounds a little thin but maybe not. Had to measure my 55 gallon and it was thinner glass. and for width 18 inches for width is what I would use.
