Blue Nightlights?
After sitting in the dark looking at the shadows of my fish.. I remembered thinking about getting blue night lights for my tanks. Anyone have experience with nightlights and the effects on inhabitants.

Some fish might not like it though.
For me, it'd drive my ID shark crazy. He's skiddish enough as it is.Heck, just bump the frame of the tank & he takes off.

Re: Blue Nightlights?
Yes, we have them in the 55 and the 220. It really changes the look of the tank and the fish. For example, the gold barbs look amazing in the blue light - they really sparkle and sport a blue shine...one in particular turns an electric blue colour (which is why we named him "Blue"!). We have the 220 on a timer, blue lights come on at 10am, then switch to white lights at 12:30pm, then back to blue at 7:30pm, and then blue lights go off for the night at 9:30pm. We were thinking of switching to a timer-style blue/white light on the 55 - but the tetras have been conditioned to respond to 'blue light' as meaning feeding time! I tried to fade this out, but it broke my heart every time I turned the blue light on and they would all rush to the top! So, no timer for the 55!!CanadaAquariaAdmin wrote:I believe Shell uses what you are describing. I like the idea of it.

Those give a great effect. I need to get some of them. Where did you get them from?

"Marineland Aquatic Plant LED System with Timer" we bought them from our fav fish shop in Bedford. A good investment, I thinkCanadaAquariaAdmin wrote:Those give a great effect. I need to get some of them. Where did you get them from?

I was thinking of getting into this also. This is definitely on my wishlist. Too bad the LED fixture I ordered didn't have them built in.....
They look so cool!
