Can I add more fish?
So Big Al's is having a sale this week with two of the fish I would like to get. I was thinking of making the 3 hour trip since they also have pythons on sale. My concern is that I do not want to over stock my tank. It is a 75g with a fluval 404. In there now are:
2 african butterfly cichlids
2 bristlenose
1 zipper loach
3 zebra danios
3 dwarf neon rainbows
3 Lake Kutubu rainbows
1 Lake Tebera rainbow
3 denison barbs
I would like to get more denison barbs to have a school of at least 5. I could move either the dwarf neons or one of the bristlenose to my 10g which has only 3 black skirt tetras. I also have an extra Whisper EX30 filter that I could add to the tank (although I am not sure where). Will I be overcrowding my tank?

I don't think so, especially not if you do the moves you're thinking about doing and if you add extra filtration. Of course, LFS sales are often a really good excuse for getting another tank.
Re: Can I add more fish?
I think you have room to expand, especially with a fish like the denison. You'd be okay.
But, adding the dwarf rainbows to the 10 would overstock it.
What was the other fish of temptation?

That seems like a well understocked tank. I would not be able to keep the number of residents so low!

Re: Can I add more fish?
I picked up 3 denison barbs today, they are cheaper in 3's. They are quite small, only half the size of the ones I already have. The other sale fish that I went for was green tiger barbs. I have 2 in my 29g and wanted to increase the school so I got 2 more. Under the tiger barb tank was tank full of beautiful odessa barbs so I had to pick up another one of those as well. Plants were on sale so I came home with an anubia attached to driftwood because that is all that will grow in my tanks. I could have come home with a lot more fish, but I was using a lot of restraint to keep from overcrowding my tanks. I guess I did not need to worry so much.
Yes, Jay, LFS sales are a great excuse to get a new setup, however, my budget, space and hubby might not go along with it.
BYW I did not drive 3.5 hours each way just to pick up fish. I drove another 45 minutes past the fish store to visit family. Then I just happen to be passing the fish store on the way home (imagine that!) so of course I just have to stop in!

You keep saying that and you might actually convince yourself of it.Starfish wrote:BYW I did not drive 3.5 hours each way just to pick up fish. However we know different, it was the other way around. You took the opportunity to visit family while you were going to Big A's

I do the same thing when we go Visiting Family in Montreal, I always find time to stop at Aquatica in the west island (its a perk)Starfish wrote:BYW I did not drive 3.5 hours each way just to pick up fish.
