Struggling with MTS
First topic message reminder :
So I just saw a 55 on craigslist for $30 ($50 with stand). There must be somewhere I can put this...how bad is it to put a tank in front of a window?

Once I had four tanks I promised my dad I wouldn't get anymore. It's an old house and he thinks I'm going to cave in the floor. Pfft. I got a 5g hex but I don't think he's seen it yet, it's so small! Of course if the floor caves in I'm in trouble! Haha.

Re: Struggling with MTS
I have the tank! Currently it is adding to the clutter in the spare room. I'm actually thinking I might put it in there - it will give me the kick in the **** I need to repaint that room (currently a hideous toothpaste green colour) and get it organized.
The guy had told me it was a tank with lights and a couple other odds and ends. Turns out is has a filter, heater, thermometer and a bunch of fake plants and plastic decor - score! Not sure if I'll use the decor....I'm a fan of the natural look.
Can I grow any plants at all under two 24 inch fluorescents in a 55 gallon? It is 21 inches deep.
Also, has anyone ever heard of or used an aquatech 30-60 filter? Do I need to use the filter cartridges that go with it, or can I improvise?

Yes, you can grow plants with that wattage. You can grow the various anubias varieties, java fern, and aquatic mosses.

Mmmm, just lost my post.
Yes, you definitively can! My 125 litre has 2 fluorescents too. It is the tank you see in the sidebar, only real plants....
