Light not working, new bulb.
One of my hoods on the 55g is not working then working then not working again. Do I need to replace it? First I thought it was the bulb and I put a new bulb in and it worked and then stopped again. So it must be the wiring inside the hood?

Have you tried different outlets?
It is probably the hood that is defective but always worth the try.

Hahaha seriously! I can't believe that worked, it's a power bar so I never thought one outlet on it would go bad but the rest would be okay! Hoping the light is still working when I get home as that will save me some money!

Aaaaand it's not working again. I took it to my dad and he says it's toast so looks like I will have to order another. *sigh*

If a hood is too expensive you can always opt for glass lids and lights.

Hey Krista,
Sorry too hear about this.
I can tell you this was bought as a kit 7 yrs. ago at Petland.
Knowing how the hood fits, and replacing one without the other wouldn't match, I can swing by there tomorrow and let you know if available (and how much) replacements would be.

I was looking on big Al's and on there I could just buy the light piece not the whole hood, but I am worried about it fitting.
Perhaps you'd be up to making some glass lids for me while you're in the area fishing?? Haha, it might rain one day!!

The ones on big Al's are 23" and mine are slightly less.
I like the idea of Namor making me glass lids, don't you?? I could use one for the 35g tall too! Lol

I'm a big fan of DIY and homemade stuff, so yeah, a glass lid is very interesting
Re: Light not working, new bulb.
Either that (if you can persuade Namor to assist or MOPS sells glass lids: http://www.aquariumsupplies.ca/glass-canopies-c-1_111.htmlKristaLynn wrote:Are you talking DIY glass lids? Hahaha! Good joke.
