How to replace a starter? Empty How to replace a starter?

Post by Biulu Mon Nov 04, 2013 4:06 pm

I have a hood with a strip light for a 20 gallon long and the light was not longer working, so I replaced the tube. Turns out that the light is still not working, so I bought new starters.

I unscrewed the 2 little screws but am not able to open up to get to the starter. Does anybody have an idea of how to do this?

It depends on how the start is put in .... many models the started looks like a fuse and it has two pins that are slotted in and twisted..... to remove you simply twist and pull it out......

This problem has resolved itself in the sense that this strip light is that old that it doesn't have the 2 pin fuse.

It has a rectangular box that I think serves as a starter, but I have no clue how to remove it, or to replace it, so I guess this means buying a new strip light.

S4P: the problem was getting to open up the light to access the starter. In the end I broke off a few plastic holders to get access to the inside...

Always good to have an excuse (as if we need it) to buy some new equipment.......

Though I was in the car forum there for a minute.

That's pretty week though just the same, you just wanted a new light anyway. Smile
