Plant enthusiasts get together in Montreal PROGRAMME
Programme for the exchange with the Ottawa planted tank hobbyists on June 18.
11.30 meeting at Aquarius. They will be trying to get in some rarer fish that are great for planted tanks and we will be given a small introduction to these fish so you know what you are getting into.
From there we move on to Aquasense. There will be a short presentation on fertilisation of plants through the substrate.
Ottawa people will be bringing some pictures of their tanks and give an explanation on what they are doing, how they got there etc. Mtl participants are encouraged to bring an USB with their tanks. Also an excellent opportunity to get answers on issues with plants!
Then it is shopping time for those that want to. Aquasense will be having some special discounts that day, just for us!
And while you guys go around the store, we will get the BBQ up and running. We want to do it in the form of a potluck so, please confirm your participation and I will coordinate who brings what to avoid we only end up with six packs of beer or salads LOL. Errol will do the same for the Ottawa side.
I am starting off: I will bring sate ayam (chicken satay) with peanut sauce.
It is definitively possible to join us later or for some parts of the programme only. However let me know, especially if you want to be in the BBQ. Please confirm here on the forum whether you are coming or not.

Yes, thanks! We are looking forward to it! That is the advantage of living in larger urban areas.

Hi Biulu! I really want to go but I wont be able to be there at 11:30. At what time would you be arriving to Aquasense? and How long would you stay there?. Let me know and I'll see if I can make it.

Re: Plant enthusiasts get together in Montreal PROGRAMME
I just communicated to Biulu , the desire to push the meet @ Aquarius for 10.00 instead of the scheduled 11.30.
This will greatly help us from Ottawa to have a earlier finish time so that we can get back home at a decent time.
Looking forward to meeting you guys & girls

You are very welcome to drop in at any time. We will be at Aquasense at least between 11.30 and 15.00. What we do afterwards depends upon how people feel. If you want us to count on you for lunch, please let us know in advance. Of course you can always bring something to eat yourself.
Hope to see you there!

Re: Plant enthusiasts get together in Montreal PROGRAMME
I am posting the updated programme here for everybody to know:
10.00 Start at Aquarius, an employee will give us a short introduction to rarer fish great for planted tanks they have available at that moment
11.30 Arrival at Aquasense, presentation on planted tank experiences from different participants
12.00 Light lunch that we will order in
13.00 Shopping/socialising
14.00 Presentation on fertilisation through the substrate or we continue the informal exchange until people want to go home or continue elsewhere.
We have an offer from an OVAS member to tell his experiences/lessons learned with an overseas journey and how he found his planted tanks. This will be a great topic now that the holidays are approaching!
I am prepared to talk about my experiences with the dry start method and HC cuba, the initial success, the problems I encountered and where this tank stands now.
All participants are encouraged to bring pictures of their tanks (on an USB stick or mobile phone that we can connect to a laptop) and give us a few details about what they have been doing with the tank, what works, what doesn't. It is also a great opportunity to get answers on issues as we have some knowledgeable people participating!
Although the objective of the day is to exchange experiences and socialise, Aquasense is offering a 10% discount on all their tanks and stands, as well as 20% on their driftwood for that day only!

Thanks to Biulu for coordinating things in MTL, we had a great day & some good shopping.
Thanks for the short presentation from Biulu, Liam & Greg from Ottawa, of course thanks to all that made it today & last but not least the management of Aquarius & Aquasense for the warm hospitality.
There is a plan the works already for a plant swap & sharing of each others set ups & experiences in Ottawa.

Re: Plant enthusiasts get together in Montreal PROGRAMME
We definitively had a great time with lots of info! A great knowledgeable crowd from Ottawa coming over, joined by some Mtl enthusiasts.
Aquarius even showed their -off limits to clients- area for us; the place where they quarantine their fish, cure their fish and they have their workshop.
Aquasense as always was a great host.
I am already looking forward to the next one in Ottawa! We will keep everybody posted.

A few pics from yesterday, i was so pre occupied drooling, shopping & paying attention to the mini presentations, i forgot to get some pics of the action inside Aquasense.

The lone pic inside Aquasense, this was so close to making the trip to Ottawa

But as can be seen no space was left
