Re: online retailers
If you are looking for plants I recommend The Plant Guy. I have ordered from him and have been very satisfied. Aside from being a sponsor he is one of the few if only online sites which strive to bring in new and exciting plant imports. We should support him whenever we can.

I recently got my order from The Plant Guy...If I lived in Winnipeg...I would be going crazy with a serious MTS condition

For plants.. I definitely recommend the plant guy! Not a person better!
For some livestock.. you could consider canadian aquatics, or Spencer Jack.

Re: online retailers
I don't think we have the mega-stores the US has. I find Canadian online retailers seem to be niche oriented. The shipping season for live fish is kind of short in our climate, sadly enough.
Speaking for Montreal, since you asked - it is a bit of an importation hub for fish, but I don't know of any direct to hobbyist resellers. It tends to be more of a store supply scene here.
If I were looking for online retailers, I would go to The Plant Guy for greenery, Angelfins or Pets and Ponds for dry goods and Aquabid for fish.

Re: online retailers
That US shipping is a problem. We have such a short season and our shipping costs are so high that it kills the incentive. When you sell a pair of livebearers to BC for $10, but Canada Post wants $35 to deliver them and that's cheap compared to the courriers...
