When in the lfs to pick up my fish I was surprised to find how quickly dominance is established in certain species. Literally minutes after my chunas were bagged new males had coloured up! The owner told me that with severums it seems to be even more dramatic: you think you only have one male and as soon as you remove him another fish parades around in full colours.

Anybody else has noticed these quick changes in dominance or are there species that need to re-establish hierarchy when the dominant male is removed?

Can't say I've ever seen it happen that fast...that would be cool to see though!

I am working on it. It is a bit difficult though to focus the pictures as there is some algae and the camera focuses on that, instead of the fish....
