Is there a compact florescent replacement for aquarium bulbs

what kind of aquarium bulbs are you looking to replace? Most hoods that fit incandescent will take daylight CFLs 9 or 13w. Using a 6500K or daylight bulb will give you a very white.. white light.

Caoder converted me to CFL many months ago.

In my incandescent hoods, I use the daylight CFLs. If the hood has a very small space water guard that would only fit the aquarium bulb type, then you may have to go to the expensive tube CFL type.

I run CFL 6500 K on all my smaller tanks. I use 13 watt and 23 watt bulbs for my planted tanks. If you use larger CFL's like the 23 watt bulbs some modifying of the light hood is necessary but works. The light is very bright and plants flourish and fish colors pop out. Cool
