So, I just thought I'd share my recent successful holiday tank story. So I was going to be away for 2.5 weeks and I really didn't have anyone who I felt could do water changes and just didn't feel comfortable having someone in our home to feed and stuff so here's what I did, with only one fish lost... which seemed to be an unhealthy fish anyway so not surprising... I lost my oldest pleco... Sad

So t-minus 1 week to travel I did 30% WC... 3days, 50%, 1 day, 50%. Day of travel I treated all tanks with prime at 1.5 the regular dose and added Tetra Min Holiday.

55g with 14 inches of hungry cichlids - two 14 day holiday feeders. (lost pleco here)
37g with with mom and pop convict and 5 teenager convicts totally 12 inches - one 14 day feeder.
5g planted with three guppies - one 2 day feeder.
10g planted with mom and pop kribensis - one 2 day feeder.
20g heavily planted with 5 zebra d. and 10 teenager kribensis - 2 one day feeders.

I'm not a water testing guy but water was clear, not smelly and fish behavior was active and healthy. A bit of algae growth but nothing crazy.

I realize I was taking a risk if there were a power failure or leak or something, but I left all heaters off and I reduced lighting time so I think risk was minimal. So 2.5 weeks is doable, just thought I'd share.

Thank you I have to go away for a week and that makes me feel better. I knew it could be done just was not as comfortable with it as now.
