Showpiece fish for 46g community
Hello!
I'm presently looking to add a showpiece fish to my community aquarium and the Betta I have in the 10gallon will finally stay where it's at.
I'm wondering, what would you guys add as a single community fish ?
I have 10 rummy nose tetras, 10 CPDS, 5 ammano shrimp and a colony of endlers (reduced my numbers to 15 now)
I already tried a Pearl Gourami in the past, I don't want to go that way.
I was thinking of a single bolivian Ram but I'd like a pair, but I'm afraid they'd kill my other fish when they decide to breed.
Cheers!

Anything big enough to be a showcase fish will eat the shrimp. But then, to uncivilized me, shrimp are fish food anyway!
So with that proviso, I would say a pair of Mikrogeophagus altispinosa, or a pair of Pelvicachromis pulcher. Neither would do a lot of damage to what you have. The altispinosa/Bolivian Rams would be the more peaceful of the two.

I have too much trouble picking them for myself so I'm interested to see what you finally end up with.
I also thought big when I read showpiece
Good luck

I think Bolivian Rams might be a good option. Even with an increase in aggression during spawning, my rams (gbr) never took out any fish. I've seen chasing and territoriality but never for long or far. I think you mitigate that risk with having a reasonably sized tank for them (and you do), so others can find somewhere else to hang out if need be (or hide). Also having a number of other fish will disperse the aggression between them.
Bolivians are a bit bigger than German blue rams but they never took any amano shrimp out either.

Thanks!
I think I'll go with Bolivian Rams, I've been eyeing them for too long already!

Good choice. Lovely little fish that I would also like to own someday.
